DSP Processor

Experiment 9 of the course was the first hardware based demo experiment. One of our seniors showed us the demo on operations such as additionubtraction multiplication and Logical Operations and Shifting operations. It was concluded that a large number of mathematical operations can be performed and repeatedly on this processor since it is a specialised microprocessor.

  4. The DSP kit used was TMS320F28375.The output of the instructions was stored in the registers and these values were obtained in real-time using the debugging functionality of the software.

  5. A signal is a piece of information in binary or digital form. Digital Signal Processing techniques improve signal quality or extract important information by removing unwanted parts of the signal.
    DSP processors allow efficient memory access i.e ability to complete several accesses to memory in a single instruction cycle.

  8. We used JTAG cable to interface DSP processor and the computer rather than USBASP cable as JTAG allowed the user to check the values of the register of DSP processor in intermediate stages rather than just at the end which helps in debugging.
